I recently joined Crossfit Nittany after hearing friends in other cities rave about it. I have seen friends of mine; specifically girl friends who are getting married soon, fall in love with crossfit. I am a bride-to-be and really needed something above and beyond the drab gym scene (I get so bored at the gym)–I knew I needed a real training program and not just another bootcamp. Crossfit challenges you in ways you wouldn’t believe are possible and I surprise myself each and every time with my abilities. (I have to admit I love telling friends about the workouts–they are already sick of my raving =) – Jill H.
After training and playing sports my entire life, I can honestly say that this is the most intense and complete workout I’ve ever had. Bryan knows how to push you to your limits, forcing you to become stronger both physically and mentally as you discover you can push yourself further than you ever imagined. I always enjoyed going to the gym to lift, but it was easy to get in a routine and hit a wall with progress. CrossFit constantly changes the workouts so I never get bored and constantly see results. I’ve never felt better (even compared to my time playing collegiate lacrosse) and had so much motivation to wake up to train. Anyone who likes to challenge themselves, or wants to not only get in shape, but also as fit as they will ever be, needs to get on board and join the group! -Matt K.
Prior to starting crossfit I already lost 50 lbs. over the course of the year. I was working out on my own and completed the Insanity program twice in full. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that my body plateaued and I quit seeing any improvements. After hearing about crossfit online, I contacted Bryan and scheduled a free training session. The intro training session challenged me far beyond any Insanity workout, and I knew instantly crossfit was for me. Currently I have completed almost 90 days of a very strict crossfit program, and I continue to achieve new milestones daily. Not only am I closer to my old goals, but crossfit has created new goals to inspire my workouts. Bryan is a hands-on trainer and you will always feel safe with him around. He creates a team environment to build you both mentally and physically. In addition to Bryan, the other crossfit members provide so much support and motivation to push you harder and faster with every workout. One of the most impressive things I always tell my friends is the ability to scale a crossfit workout to anyone. If you are serious about losing weight, getting healthier, stronger, and faster; send Bryan an email for a free trial workout. It’s the best move I’ve done all year. –James B.
I began training with Bryan in Dec 2010 with a personal trainer 45th birthday gift from my wife. We met at the gym for the initial consult and I told Bryan that I thought I was in decent shape. He put me thru a “very modified” Cindy for 5 minutes with 5 pushups, 10 rows and 15 lunges. I learned that my measurement of “in shape” is very different than his Crossfit definition as I struggled to walk for the next few days. Despite the initial pain I trained with Bryan for 8 weeks and continue to do a mix of Crossfit and other activity as I travel. My fitness level has increased, body fat is down and muscle tone is up. Bryan is excellent at defining metrics for success and adapting programs for any level of fitness. I have never been as fit as I am today or as hungry to stay fit as I am now. Thanks Bryan, Scott C.
I had my first “health scare” this year. I ended up in the hospital, needed surgery and became quite frail. I felt really weak. I asked Bryan to give me some exercises to do at home. We started small. I think I was using an 8lb weight for squat thrusts. Doing 5 was an effort. “Good mornings” even hurt. But slowly we tried a few more things. I was not as good about doing things on my own, so Bry let me go a “group” with a couple of gals just starting out. What fun! It encouraged me to do more. I finally joined his regular group, and though scaled down, I kept at it. Finally he got his gym, and I have been a “regular” ever since. I love hearing “go Mom” but the best part is, I don’t feel weak anymore. Showing up, not quitting, and finishing makes me feel strong. I want to try things. I challenge myself. Sometimes, I feel like a superhero walking around in street clothes; nobody can see my strength, but I know, because this morning I did a workout that ended with burpees and a sprint! Who does this at 6:30 AM?? Crossfit is not all I do but it has become a part of what helps me to keep feeling balanced and on a healthy path. I appreciate that Crossfit Nittany came to Happy Valley just when I needed it to. -Cathie St. Andrews (admittedly a very biased client but probably everybody’s favorite member)
